A hidden gem called Guacamelee! - VBR (Very Brief Review)

Hello! Today, I'm going to write my first entry of a series called "VBR" - Very Brief Review. The first game that I will talk about is very dear to me. It has become one of my favorite video games of all time. It definitely has a spot in my top ten list. The game is Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition. The base game, only named Guacamelee!, was developed and published by DrinkBox Studios back in 2013. A year later, they released an enhanced version with even more content in which they added Super Turbo Championship Edition to the title as a sort of joke and tribute to the old Street Fighter II game with was released in too many versions with different subtitles. This game is a metroidvania style video game that's easy to pick up but somewhat hard to master if you want to complete it 100%. The story and events are hilariously funny (I'll never get over turning into a chicken 😂), and there are easter eggs and references to other video games all around. It can almost be considered a tribute to previous games that paved the way for Guacamelee to exist such as the one seen below:

The gameplay is fast and tight and features multiplayer. The soundtrack is just amazing. I love every track, and I even own the digital album. Without giving spoilers, the protagonist, Juan, is a just a simple Mexican farmer who, after a tragedy happens in his town, a magical wrestler's mask reveals to him. He wears it and becomes a powerful wrestler on a quest to save his town and loved ones from "the greatest charro who ever lived", the evil Carlos Calaca. The cast of characters that Juan encounters on his quest are extremely interesting and funny. Juan's quest takes him through a great adventure with many twists and turns as well as challenges that will make even the best players struggle for a while. The game will take most players from 10 to 20 hours to complete, but hardcore gamers may take anywhere from 5 to 10 hours. Nevertheless, I guarantee those hours will be an unforgettable experience. I honestly can't say anything bad about this game. It is fun, addicting, challenging, and rewarding. It is easily a 10/10 for me. It's so good that I have purchased it multiple times in every console that it is available. I know that's a dumb decision, but the game is that good and dear to me. There's a sequel which is just as good, if not even better, with even more easter eggs, jokes, and references, but that's for another time.
Toma perro!
